About Us
Impact Threads is a charitable organization that Daniel Kauffman and William Wright started. Daniel and William have always been passionate about helping their Atlanta community through service initiatives and volunteer work.
In the summer of 2023, as they prepared to enter their junior year, Daniel and William were determined to make a meaningful impact in their communities. They spent the entire summer brainstorming, sketching out ideas, and discussing how they could best channel their efforts for the greater good. After much deliberation, they settled on a concept for a company with a clear mission: to create clothing lines that would directly benefit local charities.
However, as their idea began to take shape, they felt something was missing. They wanted their business to be different—something truly revolutionary that would stand out from the usual T-shirt businesses. After countless hours of trial and error, they hit on an innovative approach: incorporating QR codes into every design. These QR codes would link directly to the donation page of the charity associated with that particular collection. The goal was simple yet powerful: anyone wearing the shirt would be a walking ambassador for the cause, and anyone who scanned the code could easily make a donation, making it incredibly easy to support a charity on the go.
With their vision in mind, Daniel and William took the first steps toward turning their dream into a reality. They pooled together $400, invested in a pressing machine, and bought 50 blank shirts. But they soon realized just how challenging it was to create quality designs and prints without any prior experience. The first batch of shirts, as they put it, turned out to be “substandard”—a reality check that only motivated them further.
Undeterred, the boys found a way to keep moving forward. They decided to outsource the printing to a professional manufacturer, while they focused on designing each shirt themselves. But there was still a lot to learn about running a business, so they turned their attention to creating a sustainable business model. Staying true to their original inspiration of supporting charitable causes, they made a crucial decision: every product they created would be cost-free for the partnered charity. This ensured that 100% of the funds raised from the sales of their apparel would go directly to the cause they were supporting.
