Daniel and William

Daniel Kauffman

Hi, I’m Daniel. I’m from Atlanta, Georgia, and I currently attend Southern Methodist University. I’m studying finance. My involvement in community service began in sixth grade, when I had the opportunity to visit a homeless shelter. That experience left a lasting impression on me and was the first moment I realized I wanted to be part of something that helped people and created real impact. Working with the organizations and causes we’ve partnered with through Impact Threads has been nothing short of a blessing. I love connecting with charities in person and seeing the work they’re doing within their communities, because it is those opportunities where I truly understand why what we are doing is so important.

William Wright

Hi, I’m William. I’m from Atlanta, Georgia, and I currently attend Southern Methodist University, where I study Public Policy. My passion for service began at a young age through volunteering with my family at Furkids and other organizations across Atlanta. Spending time in those spaces exposed me early on to the importance of showing up consistently, and taking responsibility for the communities around you. Those experiences helped shape the way I think about purpose and reinforced my belief that meaningful impact comes from sustained action. Through Impact Threads, I’ve been incredibly grateful for the opportunity to work directly with charities and see that same kind of long-term impact firsthand. Being able to connect with organizations, hear their stories, and help amplify their missions through what we build has been deeply motivating. Working directly with these amazing people behind their causes and seeing the difference they make reminds me why this work is so important.

The Story of Impact Threads

  • Problem We Noticed?

After a nonprofit event ends, the merchandise often becomes just another item in a drawer, creating no real engagement and value beyond the date of the event.

While working alongside nonprofits across different causes, we kept seeing this same pattern again and again: merchandise was created with the intention of promoting the mission beyond the event, and it just wasn't cutting it.

This realization pushed us to rethink what nonprofit apparel could be.

  • The Beginning

In the summer before our sophomore year of high school, we began brainstorming ways to improve nonprofit apparel. We wanted the apparel to become a new channel for nonprofits to generate fundraising and engagement by allowing supporters to take action beyond the moment they received a shirt. We landed on the idea for interactive apparel that would utilize QR codes printed on the shirt to connect people with the nonprofit's donation pages.

At the time, QR codes felt like a step in the right direction. They gave supporters a way to scan a shirt and connect to a nonprofit’s mission. They allowed charities to link apparel to donations, stories, and resources beyond the event itself. For us, it was proof that apparel could become interactive. But once those shirts were out in the real world, we started to see the limitations. QR codes were often difficult to scan, visually distracting, and not something people loved wearing every day.Working directly alongside nonprofits and seeing these challenges firsthand made one thing clear: if apparel was going to support a cause truly, the experience had to be seamless, intuitive, and something supporters actually wanted to engage with. That realization became the turning point.

  • Introducing Tap To Impact

Tap To Impact was created by innovating on the QR codes to create a more seamless and intimate interaction. Tap To Impact is a patent-pending technology that turns non-profit apparel into an ongoing connection between supporters and organizations. Through a patch integrated into the garment, wearers become walking ambassadors for the non-profit organization by allowing newcomers to engage with the non-profit through simply holding their smartphone up to the Tap To Impact patch and being instantly connected to the non-profit link of their choice. This allows non-profit apparel to create ongoing fundraising and awareness well beyond the point of sale.

Instead of asking supporters to line up a camera or search for a code, Tap To Impact allows anyone to connect with a cause through a simple tap. The experience is seamless, intuitive, and built to feel like part of the apparel itself.

  • Today

Today, Tap To Impact is at the center of everything we do. We work directly alongside nonprofit organizations to design apparel that not only represents their mission, but actively supports it long after an event ends. Through these partnerships, we’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with causes across a wide range of communities and see firsthand how meaningful connection can drive real impact.

Along the way, our work has been shared by local and national media outlets, giving us the chance to amplify the stories of the nonprofits we support. We’re incredibly grateful for every organization that has trusted us, every supporter who has worn a piece of Impact Threads apparel, and every moment of community that has helped shape what we’re building.

At the end of the day, Impact Threads exists because of the people and causes behind it, and we’re excited to keep growing, learning, and creating alongside the nonprofit community.
