Restorative Farms

Restorative Farms

A Dallas-based nonprofit turning vacant South Dallas land into working urban farms. They train community members as professional farmers, provide fresh affordable produce, and create real jobs in one of the city's most food-insecure neighborhoods.

Restorative Farms started in 2017 with a simple but radical idea: take vacant, underutilized land in South Dallas and turn it into something that feeds people and creates real jobs. Their Future Urban Farmers program is a paid 3-year vocational training initiative that has logged over 36,500 hours of hands-on training since 2020 — all while paying participants a living wage. At Lawnview Station, a DART transit hub, they're building a living classroom and food hub managed by program graduates, including formerly incarcerated individuals gaining real agricultural careers. Dallas grown. Community sown.
